New Deputy CEO Appointed COLLEGE OF CAPE TOWN APPOINTS DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Mr Isaac Mbengo has been appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer: Administration at the College of Cape Town. Mr Mbengo graduated from the University of the Western Cape with a BA, HDE and BEd. He started his teaching career at Masiyile Senior Secondary School in 1995 and later joined Zola Secondary School. After acting as Principal at Zola SS, he joined Harry Gwala SS in 1999 as Head of the Social Sciences Department. After acting as Deputy Principal at Harry Gwala SS, he was appointed as Principal of Siphamandla SS in July 2003. Siphamandla SS consists of 1300 learners, 39 educators and 8 support staff and is rated one of four top performing schools in Khayelitsha. Mr Mbengo has been involved in several educational and community structures. He was one of three teachers that attended a training programme in the USA at their National Weather Service Training Centre in Kansas City. In June 2005 he was part of a study tour to the UK, together with 39 principals and WCED officials. He has, amongst other been instrumental in creating a culture of teaching and learning amongst Grade 12 learners at secondary schools in Khayelitsha by engaging with and co-ordinating holiday programmes to them. Mr Mbengo brings along a rich wealth of experience in teaching and learning as well as management and administration.
