NATIONAL CERTIFICATES N4-N6: Educare

This qualification is offered to students who would like to work with children from 0 to 5 years. The qualification is made up of an N4 Certificate, N5 Certificate and N6 Certificate in Educare. On completion of the N6 Certificate, students will submit proof of 18 month’s workplace experience at a registered Early Childhood Centre in order to obtain the National N-Diploma in Educare, through the Department of Higher Education and Training.

Please note that students will only receive a qualification on completion of the workplace experience. Students who have a Grade 12, NQF Level 4 FETC certificate or an NC(V) Level 4 certification qualify to study this qualification.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

What do I need to have completed before I can apply to study this course?

THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION INTO THIS COURSE:
  • Grade 12, or Level 4 National Certificate (NQF), or an NC(V) Level 4.
  • Enrolment in January and July

COURSE DURATION

How long will it take to complete the qualification?

  • 6 months for each of the certificates on a full-time basis (N4, N5 and N6). The course will be run on a distance and full-time basis (4 days theoretical classes and 1 day work-based experience.) 
  • To obtain a National N-Diploma in Educare requires a minimum of 18 months’ theoretical study plus 18 months’ of work-based experience
