The College of Cape Town Hairdressing Department offers three South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) Qualifications over 3 years. These qualifications are fully accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) with the quality control falling under the auspices of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) which was previously administered via Programme Approval with the Services SETA. The College of Cape Town is proud of the fact that it is one of a few Education and Training providers that have met all assessment and moderation requirements and have uploaded learner achievements thereby resulting in certification endorsed by the Services SETA. This means that learners that entered or will be entering this course have been and will be uploaded onto the National Learner database thereby ensuring that they are in possession of educational qualifications that are accredited and that which will be recognized both nationally and internationally.

The Hairdressing Level 2 qualification allows access to learners after Grade 9 and/or post-matric. Young and/or mature learners will have the opportunity to follow a career in Hairdressing at a Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (TVET) College instead of following the formal school learning path for pre-matric study. The primary purpose of the qualification is to empower learners with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values required to succeed in the hairdressing industry. These qualifications lays the foundation for lifelong learning as well as creating the opportunity for further education.
